Cascade Culinary Institute Uniform Standards

Professional chef attire has a long tradition and is a symbol of cleanliness, professionalism and expertise. The design and materials of the uniform also help ensure safety when cooking and baking. A professional appearance is essential to success.

Cascade Culinary Institute currently uses the vendor Chef Works for student and faculty uniforms. Students can obtain the uniform directly through Chef Works using the CCI Code or through the COCC Bookstore (see Merchandise – Occupational Programs – Culinary). If you are using financial aid to purchase supplies, you will need to go through the COCC Bookstore.

  • Printable PDF of CCI Uniform Poster (note: The striped black/grey Urban-style neck tie has a limited quantity at the bookstore; a black tie will be available after).
  • Students are expected to obtain the culinary uniform by the first week of school, and wear the uniform on the first day of the term, if possible. First and last names are to be embroidered on chef coats no later than the third week of the term. The COCC Bookstore maintains a list of local embroidery locations. Chef Works also provides embroidery options when ordering directly.
  • In general, new students can wait until after their first term to obtain the service uniform (which is used for front of the house classes).
  • Refer to the Student Handbook for additional details regarding uniforms and appearance (upcoming academic year’s handbook varies little from year to year, and will be posted by the first week of the term).
  • COCC face mask policy was updated in March 2022. COCC supports all individuals who choose to continue to wear masks in any campus setting.
  • Julia Dumas in the COCC Bookstore is a great resource regarding culinary uniform inventory and questions! Her contact info is [email protected] or (541) 340-4367.

Uniforms are also discussed at CCI’s fall student orientation held shortly before the fall term. Details on the this meeting will be emailed to enrolled students in early September. Call (541)318-3738 or email [email protected] if you have questions.
